Routine Test Management Starts in February 2026

Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alaska is teaming up with Avalon Healthcare Solutions to start a new Routine Test Management (RTM) program on February 6, 2026. Launching this program helps members get better care at lower costs. The program follows science-based guidelines that healthcare providers and labs trust.

What You Need to Know

• Routine Test Management policies cover certain lab tests, and check-ups that providers order during regular visits.
• You can find RTM policies in Medical Policy and Coding Updates and Payment Policy Updates.
• We use automated claims reviews to check lab claims from provider offices and labs (hospital and independent).
• This doesn’t include tests from emergency room visits, hospital stays, or observation.
• Providers can use the Claim Advice tool to test claims, but it doesn’t guarantee payment.
