HEDIS® Record Review Season Begins in February

Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alaska will conduct Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS^®) medical record reviews from February to May 2026, as required by National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). These reviews help measure and improve healthcare quality.

How to Prepare

• Enable secure remote electronic medical record access for our record reviewers to reduce requests and vendor coordination. Email provideremr@premera.com for details.
• Watch for medical record requests from Premera vendors Cotiviti or Virtix starting in February. They’ll provide member information and guidance on what’s needed.
• Review section 5.02 Inspection and Audit in your Premera contract. Most contracts require timely provision of records at no cost for audits like HEDIS. If your practice uses a record retrieval vendor, remind them that they cannot bill Premera.
• Send all requested records within 10 business days of receiving the medical record request. Quick responses minimize workflow disruptions and follow-up outreach.
