FEP Overpayment Process Changes Effective January 1, 2025

December 5, 2024

We’ve made some changes regarding overpayments for the Federal Employee Program (FEP). Starting January 1, 2025, we’re making things simpler and clearer for you.

FEP overpayments won’t show up on the commercial explanation of payments (EOPs) anymore. Instead, FEP EOPs will now include a statement of recovery activity page, just like our commercial process. You might see some runout scenarios in your EOPs throughout the first quarter of 2025.

After January 1, 2025, as we transition FEP Postal Services Health Benefits members, you’ll start getting EOPs separated by payment account:

  • Existing FEP members
  • New FEP postal members
  • FEP claims runout (claims processed with a 2024 date of service but paid in 2025)

To learn more about how EOPs will display in the Availity remittance viewer, visit our payment web page.
