One opportunity to help reduce total cost of care is directing eligible patients to featured, independent laboratory providers when clinically appropriate.

Why refer to featured labs?

• Featured labs may offer lower allowed amounts than other in-network options, which can help reduce member out-of-pocket costs depending on benefit design.
• Members may continue to use any in-network laboratory provider; in-network benefits apply based on the member’s plan.

Featured independent lab option: Quest Diagnostics®

Quest Diagnostics is a featured in-network independent lab option within the Premera network, with 39+ patient service centers in Washington and more than 3,500 lab tests to support patient care. Quest works with clinicians, patients, and health plans to provide laboratory insights that help inform diagnosis, treatment, and healthcare management, with a focus on convenient access and cost-effective testing services.
