Boost Mammogram Rates This October

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It’s a timely opportunity to encourage patients to get their recommended screenings.

We support breast cancer screenings through Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alaska member outreach, education, and mobile mammography programs.

Why it Matters

These efforts help reduce barriers that can prevent patients from getting screened. Together, we can make mammograms easier to complete and improve breast cancer screening rates.

Depending on the campaign, Premera members may receive a letter, postcard, email, or text message.

What You Can Do

A quick conversation can help your patients get recommended screenings. You can also use our breast cancer screening tip sheet to support patient conversations.

• Recommend: Talk about mammograms during preventive visits.
• Reassure: Answer patients’ questions and concerns about screening.
• Reinforce: Explain how early detection can improve treatment outcomes.
• Connect: Help patients schedule a mammogram before they leave the office.
