HEDIS® Measurement Year 2026 Updates
National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) made several updates to Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) measures for measurement year (MY) 2026.

Statin Therapy for Patients with Cardiovascular Disease (SPC-E)
Statin Therapy for Patients with Diabetes (SPD-E)
- Only the Electronic Clinical Data Systems (ECDS) reporting method will be used starting in MY 2026.
- Removed the “Institutional Special Needs Plan (I-SNP) or long-term institutional (LTI) care” exclusion.
- Updated approach for identifying atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) to broaden diagnosis criteria.
SPC-E only: Changed age range for female population to match males at 21-75 years of age.
Submit information to health plans electronically, including electronic medical record (EMR) extracts and Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) feeds via claims codes, and in medical record documentation during the MY.
Blood Pressure Control for Patients with Diabetes (BPD-E)
Voluntary ECDS reporting was added for MY 2026.
This measure will transition to ECDS reporting only in MY 2028; see above for next steps.
Adult Immunization Status (AIS-E)
Added a COVID-19 vaccine indicator that targets persons 65 and older.
Review impact to eligible population for measures.
