Resources for Back Pain and Mental Health
February 6, 2025
Premera is encouraging members to seek early treatment for back pain and mental health concerns. Here’s what we’re communicating to members.
Lower back pain
- Seek professional help for persistent lower back pain. Don’t ignore the pain but visit a doctor for diagnosis and treatment.
- Use available resources. Blue Cross and Blue Shield Federal Employee Program members have access to the Pain Management Resource Center, which offers tools and information on chronic pain management. See provider tipsheet for Use of Imaging Studies for Low Back Pain.
Youth mental health
- Understand the importance of mental health support for children and teens. Children of all ages can experience stress, and their symptoms may differ from adults.
- Know the options for both in-person therapy and virtual care.
- Use the provided links to help find an in-network therapist, learn more about virtual options, and tips for supporting teens.
